Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Bodymapping?
Bodymapping is a quick and easy process that provides your body composition metrics and measurements from a simple spin in front of your phone's camera. It's a way to track progress that may not be immediately visible on a scale or in the mirror.
How does Bodymapping work?
Using your phone's camera, Bodymapping captures images as you spin slowly in front of it. These images are stitched together to create a 3D reconstruction of your body. Advanced machine learning algorithms—trained on hundreds of thousands of body scans—then analyze your 3D avatar to deliver highly reliable body composition results.
How do I take a scan?
Before starting a scan:
- Wear form-fitting clothing.
- Tie up long hair to keep it away from your face and neck.
- Find a table or a chair in non-cluttered space of about 6x6 feet in area, clear of furniture and objects and place your phone upright by leaning it against a cup, a stack of books or similar.
Then:
- From within your app, start a new scan.
- Follow the on-screen instructions as the app guides you through the process.
For more detailed information on scanning guidelines see our Dos and Don’ts quicksheet.
What does Bodymapping measure?
Bodymapping measures:
- Body Fat Percentage: The percentage of your body weight that is fat tissue.
- Lean Mass Percentage: The percentage comprising everything that's not fat — muscles, bones, blood, and skin.
- Body Circumferences: Measurements around specific body parts like your waist or biceps.
